I’ll be the first to admit: bathrooms aren’t our favorite space to organize. Often times, under sink areas and makeup drawers are filled with gunky, expired products that can require TONS of trash disposal, micro-sorting, and sometimes even gloves 🤷‍♀️

That being said, they are also one of the most rewarding spaces to organize, because I know my clients now have an oasis like space within their home to relax and get ready in. It can be SO overwhelming to walk into your bathroom space to get ready, and immediately want to leave because of clutter, disorganization, old products, and the inability to find what we need to get ready for the day.

Follow my three step process below to help transform your bathroom space & create the spa like experience you deserve to start each day!

Start By Decluttering

Depending on your bathroom space, this step might take the longest! I recommend setting aside 1-2 hours to do this for the first time, but with maintenance it should only take 15-20 minutes.

Start by removing EVERYTHING from your drawers, under your sink, and in your shower. Give all surfaces a thorough cleaning and refresh any under sink liners you’ve utilized. Then, go through each item and toss expired, unused, or old products. Remember - the money has already been lost when you bought the item, and letting it sit in your vanity isn’t going to benefit anyone! In order to create a peaceful bathroom experience, we must get rid of everything that isn’t of use to us.

Pro tip: do you struggle with lots of extra products in your bathroom? Try the one in one out principal - only replace a bottle of shampoo or try a new mascara when the old one is ready to be tossed.

Choose The Right Product

This is the fun part! After organizing 20+ bathrooms, we can say that we know the BEST product to get them organized for good. Thankfully, the bathroom space only requires a few of our go-to products for a total transformation.

When organizing the under sink area, add storage with stackable drawers or store cleaning products with deep bins.
For pullout vanity drawers with everyday items, we love to use bamboo drawer bins or acrylic baby bins.
Finally, upgrade your space by gathering bulky towels and toilet paper into pretty (lidded) baskets.
Bonus: for cluttered countertops, try containment with a simple marble or acrylic tray.

Sort & Contain

Finally, it’s time to put all your bathroom items back in place.

When doing this, take some time to consider your daily routines and personal organization needs. If you wear makeup everyday, those items should be easily accessible in a top drawer, organized into bamboo drawer bins. If you have a hot tool collection but only pull them out in the winter, they may be best stored in a deep bin under the sink.

Store lesser used items in places that aren’t as convenient in order to free up the best, most accessible spots for everyday items. Using this thoughtful approach when putting items away will help to establish routine and flow in your bathroom - making getting ready everyday easy and peaceful.
